The Modernist

I’ve just received my copy of the first edition of The Modernist, a new periodical produced by the Manchester Modernist Society.  They describe themselves as:

…a small band of urban enthusiasts, amateurs and latter day dandies, passionate observers of the city and its social cultural and built environment. We believe that none of these phenomena exist in isolation but rely on each other to flourish and foster and create the living tangle of the throbbing metropolis that we call home.

I recommend taking a look at their website where you’ll get a much better picture of what these self-confessed architectural enthusiasts are up to.  Highlights include a preview of an interactive mapping project that features Manchester’s Modern buildings, a telephone box art commission, and various other bits about  events they organise including occasional walking tours.
